The heavy! oebt that burdened the school last year bas been entirely removed, and 'his, together with the added Improvement and Inoreased attendance, brings It closer to what It should be. The following report of tbe special committee appointed Tuesdsywas read and adopted: To tub Boakuof Regents of the Btate University: Your committee to whom was re ferred tbe matter of tbe re-organizition of the University and faculty, the ap propriations to the law, medical and musical departments, creation of new department and employment of addi tional Instructors therefor, and tbe salary of tbe professor of musln, as well a the proposition of tbe Eugene Water Company to furnish water fi r tbe University, beg leave to report! 1. We recommend that tbe former' appropriations, to-wlt: $1000 to the! medical department and $600 to the' law department of the University, be j restored. 2. We recommend tbat do contraot relating to the expenditure of the funds of tbe University be permitted. or reoogoized unless tbe same be made witb the approval of the president of tbe University, and by the president of the hoard; that no account be run, or obligation of any character be in curred, except under the requisition of tbe president of the board and presi dent of tbe University. 8. We recomend that two addi tional Instructors, at salaries not exceeding $1000 eaob per annum, be employed for Ibe coming year, and tbat the preel lent of tbe University be requested to suggest tbe name of persoDS for such employment at the June;, 1900, annual meeting. 4. We recommend tbat $250 be ap propriated for tbe maintenance of tbe musical department, the same to be expended nnder tbe supervision ol tbe president of tbe University. 6. We recommend tbat the proposi tion of the Eugene Water Company to furnish water to tbe University lor tbe coming year at a flat rate of $500, or at a rate of 12 cent per 1000 gallons, be not accepted. 6. We further recommend tbat tbe suggestions of the preside, t of Ibe University touching the re-organiza tion of tbe University and the faculty beadoQted.
