The "ltoinaner," by Cbauniotte brought out a singing quality of tone, while the "Torantello" by Mnszkowski showed the brilliancy of her technique, a feature that was no iceable in every number of the pro gram, lit the four numbers from Chopin Miss lirownell revealed a depth nf feeling and eminent poetical interpretative faculty such as to inspire her audience. Tlie recital closed with three num bers from Lh.t. lu the last, Khupsody No 6, the hi-uvura of Miss Itrownell's active playing created great enthusi asm. Mirs Ada D Hendricks, the popular reatler, a sisted Miss Brownell. Her unrulier was "A Sisterly Scheme," cleverly and naturally told. It pro duced an admirable effect uion the audience and Miss Hendricks gracious ly responded to repeated demands for an encore. Oregon owes much to Mr Nash for the earnest work he has done for music. Himself a Mulshed performer, having enjoyed years ot study lu Am erica aud Germany, Mr Nash keenly feels the nobleness and exalted dignity of the divine art, and the state can feel assured that a pupil receiving dis tinguished honors from him is entitled to all that such an education implies.
