Country stores are robbed very fre
quently theso days. The last one oc
cured at Coburg last night. It ap
pears that burglars broke into the
general merchandise store of Vanduyne
Bros, sometime during last night
breaking open tho front doors. They
went to tho Year portion of the store
and started to drill into the safe, but
probably becoming scared, gavo up
the Job. As a precautionary measure
the burglars had opentd the rear win
dows which had been nailed down.
The money drawer was brokeu opeu
and tho change, amounting to three or
four dollars was taken. Nothing ele
was missed.

W Stewart, of Springfield, was in the
city this morning and Identified a
number of articles found In possession
of the man, Tulk, brought here yester
day from Corvallis by Constable Llu
ton on the charge of stealing a boat, as
goods that had been stolen from his
store a short time since. Among the
articles Identified was an umbrella, i
pair of shoes and two hats. Tulk
when captured, had on a belt contain
ing a revolver and a bowie knife. He
also carried a very fine skeleton key,
which would opeu almost any door.

evening before the robbery and in

tlwwimr. Mr. Sachs is still adding to
his machinery in order to increase tlie
capacity for making guns. He is now
turning out nu emery machine for
etneryiug out the barrels of the guns.
This machine will be completed iu a
few days, and when finished will
enierv three gun barrels at a lime.
Mr. Sachs lias completed and sent
,.i,.iit onus to different parti of the
country as samples, and has a great
many more partly constructed. Every
part of the guns, the stock included, is
turned out at tlie factory, the material
being obtained iu the crude form.
When placed on the market they will
retail at $35 and $50.
