Rev W a Gilbert returned from Newport via Florence last evening about 10 o'clock. He made the trip from Newport torior- enceonhis wheel in one day easily. In coming out from Florence he was not so lucky. When about thirty miles from Eugene be punctured his bicycle tire, and fixed It up, but he had ridden only about three miles when be punctured It again. Again he repaired It. Tbl modus ope randl was repeated a number of times, when about twenty miles from here the lire would give away about every mile, which compelled him to keep blowing it up. When be arrived at a point about seven miles from here the wheel became useless and ha ' tramped the distance leading the bicycle, . which hod caused him so much trouble. Not True. A report ha been cir culated by some parties that the new flouring mill in Eugene will not b ready to make flour for some six weeks. An ordinance requiring cutting aud removing of grass from the streets and alleys by property owners, read three times and passed, and ordered pub lished. On motion Mr. Eakln was allowed $4 rebate on certain taxes. On motion one hose cart and hose were ordered removed to house of 11th street.
