John Wannamaker, ex-Poutmits. tcr-Uencral has a son who is a high flyer. A dispatch of July 27 from Paris, tells of an extrava' ganco that is rare in the hiBtory of prodigality. Here is the story: All Paris is talking of tho protli gal extravagance of Rodney Wan nainakor, tho young son of ex Post master-General Wannamakor, of Philadelphia, who spent 20,000 onasinglo dinner to twenty-two guests. lCven in this city of sump tuous dining it is doubtful wheth er so much money was ever equan dered on a single least. It was givon in the Pavilion d'Armcn onvil'e, a famous restaurant in the Bois de Boulogne. Twenty-two of the finest equipages called at tho same moment at the residences of tho guests and brought them to the bauciuot hall. Tho decorations were marvellous. Luminous (bun tains planted upon great blockB of ico kept the air cool. It was notone dinner but twen ty-two independent dinners, sepa rately sorved, one to each guest. The collar is Inflated by means of a small rub ber lube which fits into the leather casing, an ordinary cyclo air pump being used. When the new inven tion gets into universal uso, there is bound to bo a groat saving in horseflesh, as tho wear and tear and labor will be considerably lessened Sudden jars and strains will bo avoided, an even and gradual pull, ruber than a sudden jerk, being the result of its adoption.
