A Hanna was honorably retired from the active work ef the ministry. The home mission committee was empowered to organize a church near Lulie creek in the Siu slow country. Birthday Social. The Ladles Aid Society of the U. B. church gave a birthday social at the Chicago bakery lust evening. Ice cream and cako was served and was in demand by the large crowd of people who were in attend ance. It was a most pleasant affair. Birthday Party. Little Ermine Owen gave a birthday party this ofter- noon at the home of her parents sn Ferry and 12th Btreets to about twenty of her little girl friends. A nice lunch eon was served during the ufternoou. Census of Fairmount. Deputy Assessor Coolidge has completed the enumeration of the inhabitants of tho town of Fuirmount, as required by law. This place, virtually a suburb of Eugene, contains 164 people. Taxes Collected. Up to last night Sheriff Johnson had collected taxes to the amount of $82 278.85.
