The following circular letter has been printed and is 11 ng handed around today: Christmas donations by the Eugene public schools, and citizens, also, will be received at Lane's Hall, on Eight street, between Olive and Charnelton, Friday, Dec. 21, 1894. The hall will be open all day and a committee will be there to receive any donation of provision and clothing or any useful thing. We assure the public that all that is donated will be placed to the liest possible use and nothing lavishly dispensed, as we have committees of tho most reliable citizens of Eugene, aggregating about 20 persons, who will assist In the distribution on Saturday, Dec 22. The pupils of the Geary school will leave that building on their line of inarch to Lane's hull at 2:30 o'clock promptly, Friday afternoon, south to 5tb, east on 5th to Willamette, south on Willamette to 8th street, west on 8th to Lane's hall. The pupils of the Central school will leave that building at 3 o'clock, promptly, north on Wil lamette street to 6th street, and meet Oeury school and salute; return to 8th street, thence west on 8th street to Lane's hall. The way of the transgressor is cer tainly hard, but just. For the last 10 days Conatable Linton has been send ing telegrams for tho arrest of A. C. Brown, who recently skipped out from here, to various officers in California, Nevada and Utah, asking for his arrest on a warrant chareine the bilk with larceny by bailee, in tearing up a uoie or notes, the property or Mr. isaac Gray of this city. This afternoon Mr. Linton received a dispatch from Ar thur Pratt, chief of police of Salt Lake City, Utah, stuting that ne nas rsrowu under arrest. He also received a tele gram from Brown himself, wanting to know what he is wanted lor. The reuuisillon papers will beneutto Governor Penuoyer, ut Baleiu, tomor row morning for him to sign. If he issues them promptly, Mr. Linton ex pects to leave Sunday ror Ban L.ane 10 bring his prisoner back. It la to be hoped Brown will be pun ished for his wrong doing. Board of Trade. ' At the meeting of this body called for last night the box and basket factory matter was brought up. Geo. M. Miller the owner of Fail mount town- site, has offered them a site, and there needs to be a subsidy of $350 raised, to assist in shipping their machinery here. They also want the right to use the mill race to run their logs in and for other uses. The hoard telegraphed for thjlr representatives to come to Eugene and when they arrive hope to make satlfuctory concessions with them for the establishment of thoir plant here. Lecture. On Friday evening, December 21, Rev. G. W. Grannis, of Salem, will de liver a lecture at the M. E. church In this city. Subject, "Funny Things in Dixie as Seen ny a Preacher." Rev. Grannis comes highly recommended as a lecturer, and this one is full of humor and pathos. He has an lnlmit able way of pleasing his audience, and at the low price of 15 cents admission, we predict he will have a large audi ence. Christmas Turkeys. All persons wantiug turkeys for Christmas are requested to leave their orders as early as possible, as I only have a limited number. The old man who was arrested yesterday morning for prowl ing around town atuuseemly hours and who created the disturbance at the First National bank was given an examination before Recorder Dorris yesterday afternoon and given live days in the city hostile.
