Bartnett, vice president, and James Treadwell, director, of the California Safe A- Deposit Company, were ar raigned before Judge Dunne today on Indictments charging embezzle ment in connection with making loans to themselves while officials of the wrecked bank. The judge declared he would not permit further delay in the trial of the accused bankers. The story published that Brown and IKrtnett would plead guilty aud throw themselves upon the mercy of the court is emphatically denied by both.
