POSTOFFICE IMPROVEMENT New Fixtures Arrived Here This Morn ing. Will Be Put in at Once—Fair mount Postoffice May Be Discontinued -A Possible Fourth Carrier. The new boxes, furniture and other fixtures for Eugene's enlarged and improved poetoffice, arrived here last night from Indianapolis, and were hauled to 'he fos office building this morning. The fixtures made several dtay loads and consist of a large number of new boxes, tables, partitions, etc., in fact an entirely new outfit. The work of tearing out the old fixtures and putting in the new will commence im mediately. PLAN OF IMPROVEMENT. The Guard has previously outlined the plan of the improved postoffiee, but it may not be fresh in the minds of many, so we will give them in brief again as follows: The partition between the original poetoffice room and the room formerly occnpied by the Combs grocery has alrea iy been torn out. The boxes will be extended clear across the double room wi the general delivery window about in the center, in the southeast cor ner of the room, facing Eighth street, will be Postmaster Pages'» private office and back of it will be the money order and registered letter room with the windows facing the west. The carriers will have a win dow of their own between the general delivery window and the registered letter room and facing south, the same as the general delivery windows. When these improvements are com pleted there will be much more room to accommodate the rapidly increas ing business of the office. THE FAIRMOUNT POSTOFFICE. It has been rumored that the Fair mount poetoffice may be discontinued and the free delivery extended to that suburb. In this case it would be almost necessary to add a fourth car rier. Three carriers are now working on full time and it is ob< ut all they can do to take care o( the delivery on their regular routes. Personals. (Daily Guard, November 16.) M. R. Potts is In Eugene. Wm.
