Shipley was in attendee at the teachers institute Saturday andv paid this office a pleasant call; Incidentaly Mr. Shipley is raising strawberries in a small way between spells and he reports that the Marshall does the best with him so far as he has tested varieties: although he is setting out a number of other varieties this year with a view of testing and selecting the bast varieties for this section of the country. 'There is no doubt but the hills back of Monmouth are especially adapted to raising the Marshal berry. Mr. Shipley finds that the Wilson does not do well on the hill land although he thinks it likely that it would do well on the bottom land in the vicinity of Indepen dence. His record with the Mar shall on a quarter acre is as fol lows: the first year the yield was $52 and the second $65 and the outlook this year is good and will no doubt be considerably larger than last year.
