Ike Patterson returned to Portland Thursday, after visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Patterson. Sullivan, the greatest composer of modern times, is the composer of "Trial by Jury." Don't fail to hear it. Opera house Friday February 7th. , Miss Edith Bagley returned to Suver yesterday, after a visit with her cousin. Miss Ethel Walker of this city. Carl Percival is up from Port land for a few days. Miss Frances Cooper is visiting her sisters in Portland and Eugene. There will be regular services at the Methodist church Sunday evening. Lee, the 11-months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Little, died at three o'clock this morning after a week's illness. E. P. Hill; Doxology, Audience; Benediction. Just An Incident. A young Englishman drove up in front of I. M. Dickinson's livery stable a few days ago and on alighting from the carriage said to Mr. Dickinson: "Hostler, please extricate these quadrupeds from the vehicle and take them be neath the shelter of your friendly roof to protect them from the rag ing elements, and give them suffi cient of the nutrious substance to entirely alleviate the cravings of nature." Mr. Dickinson immediately came to the conclusion that his new pat ron was just over from Salem. To Be Rebuilt The Coasi Range Lumber Com pany, whose saw mill near Falls City recently burned, is making arrangements to rebuild, and if all goes well, will have things again in running order in six weeks time. This means a great deal to the em ployees as the pay-roll of the mill amounted to several thousand dollars per month. Mc Laughlin living near Buena Vista ran away neanesaay evemug. . . r l , ; . The horses were standing in front of McCready & Earhart's grocery store, hitched to a phaeton, when they became frightened and started on an extra good pace toward home. Mr. McLaughlin imme diately procured a horse and started after the- run-aways. He found the vehicle and one horse about a mile from town, whila the other nore, becoming uisengagea, con tinued on his course toward home. Considerable damage to the car riage was the worst result caused by the run-away.
