Dudley, a soldier in the regu lar army, stationed at Fort Stevens, is here on a furlough. Private Dudley's vacation will last until the 14th of June. Miss Mabel Wells, formerly of thiB city, was married recently at Modesto, Cal., to Fred Willet. Mr. and Mrs. Willet will make their future home in Modesto. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. DeWitt, of Harbor Springs. Mich., who have been spending the winter here, re turned home the last of the week. Mr. DeWitt is a brother of Mrs. R. E. Furgeson. Clemens Jones has lead off in the building line. He has began the erection of a residence on Fourth street opposite John Fluke's place. There is talk of other resi dences going up duriDg the sum mer. A. F. Reather and family, of Neilsville, Wis., friends of W. L. Bice, arrived in this city last week, Mr. Reather says, what he has seen of this county he likes very much and will more than likely locate here. There will be a setting of an O. 2f. G. court at Eugene April 25th. The parties to be tried are Captain J. M. Williams of company C, and Private Ora Wilson rf company A. Wilson tantalized Captain Williams and the latter used his sword dur inf practice drill and charges frew oat the treable. The eeneral store that has been conducted by N. A. Emmett and J. M. Stark at Falls city, will here after be run by the Falls City Mer cantile Company, an organization perfected at a meeting in Falls City Friday, the 22d, inst. The incor porators of the new firm are G. Sowers, N. A. Emmett, J. M. Stark, Lola Stark. J. M. Stark was chos en president; N. A.
