A special session of the United Elates Senate has beeu called by Pr-sident Roosevelt to meet March 5th. Ha said tbey would have to if they fooled away their time and they did. Governor Chamberlain deserves "credit for having the nerve to es tablish a "precedent in dealing with appropriation bills. The Oregon constitution prohibits vetoing one bill when numbered together and heretofore the governors, as a rule, let many grafts go through rather than veto any meretorious measure. 1 he governor has done his duty and the next legislature is not upt to put "riders" on the general ap propriation bill at the last ininut?. Congressman Moody, of the sec ond district of Oregon, has won a high standing in the national house of representatives, and he retired yesterday with a record of excel lent service in the tp terms of congress in which he has served. He goes out at a time he should have been retained. We hope his successor, Mr. Williamson, is able to come up to the standard set by his predecessor. School Iteport.
