Portland Tele gram. Miss Longacre is a former Independence teacher and a native of Buena Vista. We frequently hear her spoken of in i.astern periodicals quite highly. I. Connett. who lives a few miles north of town, brought to this office this week some grass, which he claims is far superior to any ether for pasture, etc. He says he h-s never seen any of the same grass and that it was on his place thirty years ago when he. came. He claims for it the best hay and the best pasture he knows. When left to its own course, it grows to a (rront. hf-itrht. samtdes of which he brought to us measuring over seven feet. Hops are soaring high twenty cents, it is claimed, being offered for this year's crop. The are also many sales of the growing crop as it stands on the vines at the pres ent time. There is, however, a general feeling among grower to hold the crop and run the risk this tall.
