' Miss Winnie Kelly went to Port land last Monday to spend the summer with an aunt. Rev. J. A. Waggoner and wife of Independence, were the guests of Elder C. E. Wigmore last week Kev. Pierce, of Albany, will preach in the Evangelical church Sunday morning and evening. All are invited. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Miller, of Newberg, were guests of the family of Mr. C. II. Teal last Saturday. They were old neighbors of Mr. Teal in Nebraska. Mrs. N. G. HelHey, Mrs. L. N. Butler. Mrs. J. B. Whiteomb and Mrs. C. II. Teal went to Liberty, Marion county, to visit Mrs. Mollie Zozel, formerly of Talmage. Mr, Search, of California, filled the pulpit in the Christian church Sunday night. I Tl.u Itlvutu Our friends at Monmouth in the Normal school have been practicing for weeks, under the direct super vision of Mihs Tuttle, on Sheridan's great play, "The Rivals." They are going to put it on the Normal stage on Saturday, June 14th at 8 p. m. The players wilt be cos turned in the eighteenth century dress and everything is being done to make this one of the greatest dramatic events ever given in Polk county. This old and delighful play has been the pet of'play goers for over a hundred vears, and is as full of freshness and joy as it ever was. The greatest actors and actresses have made hits Sir Lucius O'Trig ger and Mistress Malaprop, with her "nice derangement of epitaphs."
