Loy returned Saturday night from San Diego, Calif., where he went two weeks ago to be at the bedside of his son, who had under gone a critical operation for acute appendicitis. He brings the good news that Alfred is doing nicely and will be able to come home in two or three weeks. Mrs. W. D. Simmons, Leona and filenn Wells left Monday for Port land where the former will join her j Bister, and by auto will go to Con don, Oregon, for' a few days' visit. They will hold a family reunion, six sisters joining in the happy af fair. Mrs. Lester Murphy returned home with Howard Murphy who has been under a specialist's care. He will, however, have to go back every two weeks for some time yet for further treatment. Perry Wells and wife have re turned home here after several days' sojourn at several beaches. Mr. and Mrs. Noah of Notte, Til lamook county, have purchased the Eston Bevens house and will take possession this fall. The place is now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Wil bur DeVine. , Mrs. Marguerite ' McClain return ed home Monday from a two .weeks' visit with her daughter and family near Amity, Dr. Butcher o Woodburn, is here visiting his niece, Mrs.. Will Hunni cutt, and family. Will McCann of eastern Oregon, called here seyeral days last week on relatives. He left Saturday for Myrtle Point where he expats to locate if a suitable occupaton can be found. If not he wll move his fam ily here in time for school this fall. Mr: and Mrs. Nute Prather and little grand-daughter, Mabel, Saturday for Cascadia. joined in Corvallis by Mr. and Mrs J. M. Prather ami Bobbie rrainei for a 10-days' outing. Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Spaulding of SSlem, Sundayed at the Edgar Lkhty home. They arc recent ar rivals from Kansas and'' are highly eUted over the Willamette valley and the plentiful and delicious fruit they have" here. They have bought them a 10-ucre tract on the Gordon road out of the capital city. G. G. Hewitt, wife and son of Monmouth, Mrs. Louise Harmon and Ruth Prather were Sunday visitors at the G. E. Harmon home. Raymond McClain went to Salem Sunday for a several days' visit with his grand-parents. Mr. and Mrs. Busells and two sons of Salem, were callers at the R. E. Prather home Saturday. They are close friends of Guy Prather, who is yet seriously ill at the home of his parents. The Busells were enroute for San Francisco on busi ness matters. Teddy Steele, who has been work ing in a logging camp in Kings Val ley, came down to help on the George Wells threshing machine. Amos Wells of Salem, a former Buena Vista boy, is also helping" on the George Wells threshing outfit. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. McLaughlin jof Salem, Clara Snyder and mother oi l oruana, were oumj n"u" callers at the G. A. Wells home. Miss Thelma Moe is making an extended visit at the home of her brother, Ernest Moe, and family of McMinnville. T. Peterson home. The wheat average is heavy this season and the yield on the whole appears to be good. Everybody is busy these days. Help is scarce and burning day light is quite the order.
