Horton and children returned Tuesday evening from Portland where they have been for a few days. William Setak states he has cleared about $500 on his little patch of berries this "year. THREE RESIDENCES CHANGE HANDS IN INDEPENDENCE During the past week three resi dence properties in Independence have changed ownership. Fritz Thoma of Hoskins has pur chased the E. N. Johnson four-acre tract on Ninth street. The consider ation was $1100 and Mr. Thoma ac quired the property as an invest ment and expects to have some im provements made. George Tilberg of Hoskins has pur chased the Susan Jones house and lot on Fifth street, the price being $1050. C. B. Smith has bought the R. W. Allen property on E street. E. S. Whittier, a recent arrival here from Yakima, Wash,, has pur chased C. B. Smith's lease on the Jasperson property and will take possession next week. All of these deals were handled by the Independence Realty Co. -August Sperling of Portlnd, prominently identified with Inde pendence business affairs for nearly a score of years, was here last Sat urday attending to business matters. Mr. Sperling's interests were varied. Mr. Sperling is now engaged in the real estate business in Port land.
