was summoned by an accident which
befell her mother, Mr. J. Montgom
ery, who Is past r years old. She

Mrs. A. I). Kcaliher and two
sons left Monday for Denver, Col.,
where they expect to permanently
reside. She will be joined about
the first of October by Mr. Kealiher.
It is their old home town, coming
here about three years ago. Mr.
Kealiher has not fully recovered from
a severe attack of pneumonia a few
months ago, and his physician has
advised him to go to a higher alti
tude. Mrs. Florence Whiteaker, lino
type operator in the Enterprise of
fice, had her left hand quite badly
jammed Wednesdoy afternoon No
bones were broken, although there
was one quite deep laceration.

here Friday for a visit with C. A.
McLaughlin and other friends.
After residing here for seven
years, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Mitchell
arc mnking preparations' to go to Port
land to remain permanently. Mr
Mitchell has sold his residence prop
erty to Gus Miller and is winding up
his other affairs here with the expec
tation of leaving in a few days. Mr,
Mitchell owns a home in Portland
and he also has a daughter residing
there. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell, after
getting located in their Portland
home, are planning upon an extend
ed viMt with a daughter at San
Francisco and another daughter at
Stoc kton
FINE RANCH PROPERTY
E. M. Lichty of Buena Vista has
purchased the G. B. Bowman farm
about four miles south of town, and
will take possession this fall. The
place consists of 80 acres and has a
fine set of modem buildings. The
consideration was $12,000 and the
transaction was handled by the In
dependence Realty company.
Mr. Lichty has been successfully
operating the James Prather farm
at Buena Vista and is an enterpris
ing and Bucccssful farmer. Mr.
Bowman expects to remain In this
locality, although he has- not fully
decided upon his plans for the future,

Miller came to Independence several
