C" is the motto of the Polk county stu- I dents at the College and the organiza tion will unite with the alumni of the county in its efforts to inform every voter in the county about the finan cial needs of the college. 1 V I Violet Wood Redwell was born Jan uary bri, KtOO, near Independence. She was the youngest daughter of Viola and Fdward P-edwell. Most of her life was spent in Polk county. She united with the church when she was 12 years of age. In October, 1910, she was married to William II. Kodad and tlie young couple moved to Tilla mook, where they lived until her death M.irch 4, 1920. She i.s susvived by her husband, her parents six sisters and one brother. -t f t Mesdnmes W. II. Walker, George Conkey, O. D. Butler, Clyde Ecker I and S. Taylor Jones very charmingly entertained members of the Civic Club and invited guests at the Walk er home on Fifth street Wednesday March 10th. The attractive living rooms were artistically decorated with dafodils and Oregon grape. Af ter n short business meeting, Mr. Aus tine of Monmouth, gave a very inter esting talk on his work in the Y. M. C. A. while over in France. Several vocal selections sang by Mrs. M. But ler of Monmouth, in her usnal pleas ing manner were thoroughly enjoyed. Light refreshments were served after the progrnm.The next meeting of the Club will be held March 24th. . 1 t t The Baptist church has made some very noticeable advances since the first of the year. Tho Sundpy School attendance has grown rrdondidly and the attendance at church has doubled L -st. Sunday 17 new members were received into the church.
