The air line distance between Ka huka Point and Portland Is about 2300 miles, it being about 2100 milea from San Francisco to the island. It Is expected that in a short time a permanent service will be estab lished between the Coast and the Hawaiian Islands. The Dalles Arrested for jumping his board bill, Lewis Kracht had the complaining witness In the case. Peter Henningsen, arrested for sell- Ine intoxicating liquors on bunaay Mr. Henningsen, who Is proprietor of the Gerlinger Hotel here, had a warrant sworn out for the arrest of Kracht on tha charge of jumping his board bill. Kracht pleaded guilty, nald the amount of the bill, $4.50 and costs in the case. Next day he visited the district attorney, and of his own volition told him that on Sunday, September 20, Henningsen sold him liquors, besides selling to six other men, the names of whom he gave to the official.
