During the fiscal year ending June 30, 1920, a total ot 21,878 Industrial accidents were reported to the state Industrial accident commission, ac cording to a statement just issued by the claim department of that commis sion. Of that number 157 were fatal accidents. The monthly average tor the year was 1768.41 non-fatal acci dents and 13.8 fatal accidents. The report shows that during die year the commission disposed of 1479 claims more than the total numbered receiv ed, this making an average monthly gain of 123.25 claims. Persons under 16 years of age who attempt to drive a motor vehicle in Oregon, are doing ao in violation of the provisions of the recently enacted motor vehicle drivers' licence law and are subject to arrest and fine, accord ing to a statement Issued by Secre tary of State Koier. Although the enforcement of the law has been sus pended temporarily, pending the is suance ot licenses to those who have filed their applications, the law speci fically prohibits the operation ot motor vehicles by persons under 16 years ot age, license or no license, and there is no excuse for the violation of this section of the act, Kozer explains.
