In Josephine county.
Hop buyers In the Salem district
have made several contracts recently
whereby they agree to take the grow
era' product for a term ot three years
at a stipulated price ot SO cents
pound. As a result of these contracts

future prospect! ot the bop Industry
in Marlon county the acreage will be
materially increased this season.
It is estimated there will be approxi
mately 1883,4(0.22 of state money avail
able for the construction ot market
roads in the various oountiet ot Ore
gon during the year 1920, according
to a report prepared by member! of
the state highway commission. To
obtain this money for road construc
tion It will first be necessary for the
several counties to match the state
appropriation. ,

the Astoria Flouring Mills oompiny'i
new plant at the port terminals at
Astoria hat been operated for a few

this unit which will have a capacity
of 2000 barrels of flour a day, will
begin grinding Immediately. The
second unit of the plant will be ready
for operation In about six week. The
new plant will be one ot the largest
single mtllt of Its kind In the country.
It will torn out 4000 barrels of high
