Robbie Phillips and family have moved to the Sam Morrison place recently purchased bv them. E. M. Ebbert and family are spending the week in an outing at ' Cascadia. A bear weighing 190 pounds was killed recently near Polk station. Dr. Een F. Butler of Hepner, a former resident of Monmouth, is visiting this week with W. J. Mul key. Chas. Grimes of Portland is the barber who has taken E. M. Et bert's place during the absence of the latter at Cascadia. Rumor Tuesday stated that the Hamilton-Smith mill on the Luckia mute bad teen burned, but it turn ed out to have been the company's output of slab wood th?t was in the fire, it being cheaner to dispose of the same by burning than by re tailing, even at current prices. Gilbert Auld, who has spent the summer with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W, Chesebro, started for Portland and school Tuesday. His father came out from the city for him bringing along a boy friend. Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
