Finale-Recitative and "Wedding Chorus" ARGUMENT - KING RENE'S DAUGHTER IOLANTHE daughter of King Rene - has been betrothed in infancy to Tristan, a prince of a neighboring country. Stricken with blindness when but a year old, she has been reared with all knowledge of the faculty of sight withheld from her. A leach, or magician has promised to restore her sight, by means of an amulet he has given her, on con dition that she is first informed of the missing sense; but the king has refused permission, Iolanthe's betrothed, wandering as a troubadour, lighta upon her abode in the secluded valley. Without knowing her - for a territorial feud hus kept their lives apart the troubadour knight is enthralled by her beauty.
