Ebbert was a visitor in Portland from Sundav to TW day where he went to attend the funeral of his Bister, Mrs. Chali foue. Prof, and Mrs. H. C. Ostien and son Thomas and Floyd Williams journeyed to Portland Friday night with the intention of taking in the automobile races. The races were postponed a week because of the weather and the Ostien party returned Sunday. Mrs. M. J. Coleman and Mrs. E. J. Smith were amonir the vis itors in Salem Saturday who went on the excursion. They visited at the Old Ladies' Home in the capitol city where they saw Mrs. Wolf who recently left Monmouth to take up her home there. Mrs. Wolf is very much pleased with her new surroundings. The excursion train that was backed into Monmouth last Sat urday morning for the trip to Salem over the S. P. was one o the longest that has entered the city and there was a large com pany who took advantage of the opportunity to visit the capital o the state. Howard j Morlan acted as chauffeur. i Fred Olsen is in Eastern Wash ington where he registered at Omak for a farm in the Colville Indian reservation opening. Miss Bonnie Olsen left Wednesday for Omak with the same intention. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. HamDton ana Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Port wood came from Eckley last Fri day and after visitine for a few days here Mr. and Mrs. Portwood returned to their home near Harrisburg. Mr. and Mrs. Hamp- ton returned to Eckley Tuesday. Mr. Hampton's lease on the M Joe Haines place has expired and ne has disposed of his stock, with a view to discontinuintr ranrhinir . .. .
