Editor of the Herald: Manv went to the cemetery on Decoration dav to dace flowers on the graves of their departed friends and many were the com plaints heard at the neglected condition of the cemetery. It was an affecting scene to see women, children and men wading in erass and briers waist deep trying to locate the last resting place of those who were near and dear to them. The K. of P. lodge t Independ ence has charge of the cemetery and if they have ever done any thing but take in the money for lots sold, its condition does not show it Now why can not the Civic Club take the matter up with the K. of P. lodge and see if there can't be sufficient money raised to put the ground in good condition. There should be a man employed by the year to keep up the work. The money could be raised by contributions of a dol lar annually by those who have relatives and friends buried there which we are sure they would be willing to do. Geo. T. Bqothby Gov. Withycombe addressed the Boy Scouts and Camp Fire girls at Independence last Tues day evening.
