A Man With a Temper Wants Hardware with a Better Temper Local and Personal Mrg. Walt'-r Strain has been on tho sick list hut is improving. Mr. and Mrs. Clement Janes went to Dallas Monday to visit relatives. Dr. W. D. Butler of Airlie was in Monmouth Wednesday on his way to Portland. Mrs. A. P. Tiipiwr of Dilley was the jmest of Mrs. S. Boots Christmas day. Miss Lydi Bell, whi has been teaching at Oakland, is at home for the holiday vacation. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. McOady of Corvallis spent Christmas with relatives and friends here. Miss Klta Portwood is home from Condon to 8end her vaca tion with relatives and friends. II T. Boothby of Carlton, a former resident of Monmouth, was the puest of his brother, G. T. Boothby, and wife Christmas. Mrs. Arthur H. Meyers of Portland is spending the holidays with her mother. Mrs. C. V. Stengel- Mr, Meyers is ex pected up shortly and will ac uompany his wife home. Christmas day passed off quiet ly at this place with the usual feasting and pood cheer. The day was ushered in with rain that broke up the cold, frosty weather that had lasted for a cou ple of weeks, which was very gratifying to the average Ore gonian. The remains of M. Haley of Portland, father of A. J. Haley of this place, were brought to Monmouth and were interred in the K. P. cemetery south of town Tuesday. The services were held in the Christian church and were conducted by Rev. E. Wigmore who was called here from Eugene.
