The Christian Church membere are contemplating the purchase of a high class church organ in the near future. Mrs. McPherson, who has been the guest of Mrs. V. F. Daniel for some weeks, returned to her home at Eugene, Wednesday. Lester H. Lindsay of Oak Grove came up, Saturday and re mained until Monday. Mr. Lind say & Son sold their store at Oak Grove. E. II. Hosner of Portland was in Monmouth a couple of days the latter part of last week hav ing business in connection with his hotel property here. Rev. C. Poling of Dallas was in Monmouth, Monday, on his re turn from Corvallis and Buelah where he had been holding quar terly meeting in the interest of the Evangelical Church. General Gibson Post, G. A. R., of Independence installed officers as per the following list last Saturday: D. M. Hampton, Com mander; J. C. Brown, Sen. Vice Com.; A. Dyke, Jr., Vice Com.; W. P. Fisher, Quartermaster; T. J. The Jubilee Singers The Jubilee Singers have come and gone leaving the memory of their passing in the minds of those who heard them. To say that this company of Hams descendants can sing like birds would hardly expressive of the art they display to the audi ences they greet, as they have proven that they can imitate al most anything, and that the large house which greeted them at this place was well pleased with the entertainment was evi denced by the applause and re peated encore. This is the first of a series of four entertainments undertaken by the faculty of the Normal School assisted by the Commer cial Club, and the parties mov ing in the premises can congrat ulate themselves upon the suc cess of the first part of their venture.
