tended the revival meetings at
Dallas last Sunday.
Mr. Collins and family, of
Suver, were seen at the Shipley
home last Thursday.
Fred Crowley and wife, of In
dependence passed over the
Heights last Friday.
Len Fishback has gone to
Carlton where he will visit with
relatives for several weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmore Diehl visi
ted with Forest Guthrie and
family, of Guthrie, last Sunday.
Mis Jean Mclnturff, of Mon
mouth, was the guest of Minnie
Wunder several days this week.
Jesse 'Johnson and Claud
Magers, of Independence, were
in this neighborhood last Sun
day. Mr. and Mrs. Pern Lewis, of
Lewisville, visited the Fishback
children and attended the Sun
day school picnic Sunday.
The Sunday school picnic held
at Bosley's grove was very well
attended. There was a pro
gram before 12 o'clock, then a
fine basket dinner and a secial
time until 3 o'clock when ice
cream was served. All report
having had a good time.

Commercial Club Met
The Commercial Club met in
the club rooms Monday evening
to consider what could be done
for the advancements of the
city's welfare. Among things
brought up was the depot propo
sition but as that question seems
in a fair way of realization it was
not discussed further.
The next proposition touched
upon was better railroad con
nection which was discussed with
a view to getting changes in
time which will bring about the
desired effect.
The subject of co-operating
with the'' city council, in regard
to getting water for the use of
the city, was then taken up and :
discussed after which a mot.on
prevailed to appoint a committee
of two to act with a similar com
mitte from the city council, such
committee to visit Scio, Dayton
and Independence to learn what
they could of the water systems
at those places and to learn the
strength of flow and altitude of
a spring East of Independence,
to see if there is water enough
there to supply Independence
and Monmouth with a gravity
system.
The members appointed upon
this committee were, J. H. Haw
ley and B. F. Baker with W. R.
Coulter as a supernumerary
member, and the time set to
make the investigation was
July 2.
