Sias, a brother of the bride, in Dallas, Wednesday. Morris Wheelock brought in some alfalfa that he has grown from seed sown May first, that i fourteen inches high. This gives evidence of being a fine al falfa country if the right location is secured. Even in the best ir rigated sections , no greater growth can be shown than this of Mr. Wheelocks. The Herald man has had his sidewalk repaired. If we knew where Ex-Marshal Paulson is making his headquarters we would inform him of the fact. There are other sidewalks in town that are in as bad or worse con dition than ours was and where there are hundreds passing over every day and it doesn't look like there would be anything doing for some time yet. H. Hirschberg was over from Independence Wednesday even ing in his Buick car. He is get ting to be the , champion walker of this part of the world. He started from Spaulding's camp on the Luckiamute Saturday morning, walked across the coast range and down by Cape Foul- weather to Newport by Sunday evening. We will wager there is not another railroad president in the United States can equal it. Falls City Clay Courter returned Thurs day from Portland. George Ott was down from Black Rock Friday. W. Y. Southwell went to Dal las Friday on business. Dr. Scott returned Monday from a trip to Portland. W. E. Gilbert was a business visitor in Dallas Tuesday. Mrs. Ed. Rich visited in Dallas with her sister a few days last week. Mrs. A. Campbell, of Rose burg, visited last week with Mrs. Miller. .: I. H. Flower spent several days in Salem last week attending to business matters. Miss Irene Dodd returned from Corvallis last week to spend her vacation with her parents. A. E. Beezley had the misfortune to break one of her ribs last week, while stooping to pick up an object she had drop ped on the floor. J. C. Talbott and wife have gone over to the Siletz for an outing. Rev. LaDow will have charge of the furniture store dur ing their absence. Charles Palmer has been called to his old home in Minnesota by the severe illness of his aged mother. He left Sunday and his wife and daughter will follow in a few days. Mrs. DeWitt and sister, Mrs. DeBord, of Monmouth, and her daughter, Mrs. Hattie Murrow, of Topeka, Kansas, visited at the home of I. G. Singleton a few days last week.
