Hinshaw, who was taken ill last week with tonsil itis, is improving. Grandma Courter and her granddaughter Edna, visited at Dallas last week with friends. W. J. Southwell and family and some friends, spent several days last week in the mountains. Mr. Vassall, who has moved to Newberg, has rented his house here to Mr. Gilbert who will move in next week. W. B. McKown and J. 0. Chamberlain returned from Pen dleton last week, where they had been to attend the Grand Lodge K. of P. John McBee cut down a bee tree on his farm last week and got five gallons of fine honey. He proposes to be sweet far a: while at least Harry Packard left for Port land last week to accept a posi tion in the Portland office of the F. C. Co., for whom he has been working while here. . . Gardner and family have been visiting his brother at Will- aminaand are so well pleased with the country that they will move there to reside, Arthur Vassali and wife left for Newberg Tuesday to spend the summer and may conclude to reside there permantly. Pettit, of Corvallis, spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Clay Taylor, of this place. Mrs. Ora Walker has gone to Portland for medical treatment under her brother, Dr. Crowley, formerly of Monmouth. Fanners are all busy haying. The rain damaged more hay through this section , than was expected shortly after the rain. , Several from thia place attend ed the Cherry Fair held in Salem last week.
