Mrs. Alec Lewis, of Falls City, (late of Airlie) is very ill at her home. C. T.. Allen, the Airlie butcher made a flying trip to Corvallis last week. Mrs. Clyde Williams and child, of Independence, are visiting W. E. Williams family, at Airlie. We are sorry to learn that Marcus Bevins, who came from Rainier, ill, is not improved any Mrs. Delmer Hedgepath has moved up to Phy Simpson's log ging camp to cook for some of the hands. Mrs. Dave Simpson's little three year old boy has been quite sick for the last ten days, but is im proving now. Mr. Norton, of Lewisville, pas sed through Airlie Friday, on his way to visit his son, who is at tending school at Corvallis. James Blodgctt, of Blodgctt, paid his sister, Mrs. John Post a short visit last week and reports a heavy rain fall at Blodgett. The Artisans will soon have a full fledged lodge at Airlie. We hear they are organizing with quite a number of members. Mrs. Orville Buchanan and children returned Friday from a visit with relatives at Heppner. We are glad to see them back. We hear that Simpson Bros, are going to rebuild their Store at Airlie. We hope this is no idle report, as Airlie needs two stores very much. The sun is shinning after the rain which has done a vast a mount of good around Airlie. The prospects are now that we will have fair crops at least. Picnics are in order now, the one at Ridders Grove will be largely attended from this sec tion of the country. There is to be- one also at Shady Lane a week from next Saturday. The news came to Airlie Mon day, of the death of Ada Mc Dowell, of Summit, at the age of 15 years. Many will remember the sad death, last September of her father, Geo. McDowell, who was injured by a fall from the hopdryer of Mr. Link, of Lewis ville. Our new mail carrier, successor to Clyde Turner, had a runaway last week; his second trip out with the mail. He stopped for dinner and while removing the bridle from the horse the anima' became frightened and bolted, obliirintrlv turning the mail out as he turned, lie was caught at Mr. Nortons several miles lrom where he started after breaking the buggy up pretty badly. Some sav our mail carrier walked and delivered the balance of the mail; others say he even swore, and said he would chain that horse to a tree before he removed his bri dle again. Dot. Harlan Wheeler has been buy ing wool in this part of the coun ty, paying 24 1-2 and 25 cents a pound. Little Sylvester Ridders died last Wednesday and was Thursday at two o'clock, of death unknown.
