Fennell spent Saturday in Salem. Mrs. Eph Young returned home Sunday. Mrs. Eldridge went to Port land Tuesday. Miss Iva rurton was a Salem visitor Saturday. Mrs. Newbill, of Portland, is visiting Mrs. Paddock. Mrs. Bownen and daughter spent Saturday in Salem. Mrs. Oscar Johnson, of Salem, is visiting her brother, Dr. Allin. Miss Florence Burton was visit ing in the Capital City Saturday. Mr. Merrill is the new black smith in the Charley Williams shop. Mrs. J. E. Hubbard was elect ed State President of the Re bekahs. Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Hooper spent Sunday in Albany visiting friends. The Odd Fellow and Rebekah delegates are all home and report a fine time. Miss Drake was a north bound passenger Sunday morning by way of Dallas. Mrs. Hiram Cooper was a pas senger to Corvallis Sunday, where she went to visit Mrs. Denman. Mrs. Spong, of Carson Springs, is visiting her sister, Mrs. C. A. Moore. Mr. Spong rsturned home Monday. Mrs. Belt and little daughter returned to Corvallis Sunday. Mrs. Belt has been visiting her father, II. Wood for several days. Mrs. Butler returned to her home in Portland Wednesday, after spending several weeks with her brother, Charley Will iams. Some strangers from southern Oregon arrived in town the first of the week, looking for homes where they will not have to irri gate. Every bicycle that could be . had was put to use las Friday night by the High school boys, who all went to Monmouth to hear the final debate. . Mrs. F. L. Hooper returned Saturday evening from Silverton, where she had been visiting her sister, Miss' Shank for several . days. Miss Shank is engaged in a millinery store. Last Friday night the Rebekahs invited friends and gave a recep tion in honor of the newly elect ed State President, Mrs. J. E. Hubbard, in their hall. A pro gram was rendered consisting of music and a select reading by Miss Damon. Dr. Dunsmoor gave a pleasant address. After re freshments of ice cream and cake, games were played until a late hour when all returned to their homes having spent a very enjoyable evening. Crowley. Ilarley Ely spent a few days in Albany last week. Fishback Bros, passed through our vicinity Sunday morning. Malcolme Pewtherer bought two Jersey heifers of Seth Fawk. Wm. Knower, of Salem, visit ed Mr. and Mrs. Clay Taylor last week. G. W. Pewtherer purchased a new disc harrow that was ship ped to them at this point. Winfred Pewtherer, of this place, took the civil service ex amination at Albany last week. Potatoes are nearly all planted in this part of the county. Mr. Alex Holmes' potato planter is doing the work. Late spring grain is strictly on the bum in this vicinity gardens are drying up and indications are not favorable for farmers. Newt McDaniel and W. Fawk were out from Salem last week looking after interests here. They have purchased 1500 shares of oil stock in this county. The owners of the Oak Grove skating rink have rented their building for four months. The new proprietors intend to get in shape to open by May 29. Suver. Emil Gobat and family visited Albert Ruef's last Sunday even ing. Mr. and Mrs. Arehart, of Rick reall, visited Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ruef last Sunday. The dance at Wells last Satur day night was well attended and everybody had a fine time. Mrs. Anna Ruef and Mrs. G. B. Suver were Independence and Monmouth visitors last Monday. Ed McCready and sister Nellie, from Portland, were visiting with friends and relatives at Suver this week. J. H. James, Chas. The ball game between Buena Vista and Suver was well attend ed. The game resulted in a score of 16 to 2G in favor of Suver. Notice of Dissolution.
