Shipley's place and purchased some strawberry plants last week. Mrs. William Herren and daughter Maggie were shopping in the Herald city Friday. Rufus Smith is having three acres of strawberry plants set out this week. Misses Ina and Letta Fishback visited Mrs. Belle Sullivan, of Talmage, Wednesday and Thurs day. Harvey Guthrie, of Monmouth, grafted fruit trees for J. Stump Wednesday. George Bingman Jr., of Luck iamute, passed over the Heights Friday enroute to Monmouth. Thomas Strain, our industrious supervisor, is putting the roads in excellent shape. Dave Dove, of Independence, purchased fifty acres of land of R. M. Bosley the past week. George Sullivan and family, of Talmage, visited her mother, Mrs. E. Clark and family Sunday. The Sunny Slope school child ren on Friday afternoon, it being arbor day, made some improve ments on the grounds by cleaning and setting out different shrub bery, flowers and fir trees. The seventh grade in the Nor mal Training Department have taken up agriculture instead of reading. . Quite a number of people from the east are coming into town the last few days and vacant houses are being rapidly filled. Supt Seymour was over from the county seat the fore part of the week looking after business connected with the public school. Mrs. G. W. Ebbert went to Eugene yesterday morning on account of the severe illness of her brother-in-law, P. J. Mc Pherson. Marshall J. W. Paulson is mak a special investigation of the side walks.
