Brown, of Dallas, was visiting in Monmouth Wed nesday and Thursday of this week Neighbor Morlan has been building fence the past week and otherwise beautifying his prop erty on Broad street. The Commercial Club held a special called meeting Monday evening and appointed a com mittee to draft resolutions re garding the Normal situation to lay before the people. "Thought" as a determining factor in the building of charac- j ter will be the sermon subject at the Evangelical church, Sun day evening. The sermon will be especially to the young people. J. J. Levee k, of the Lewis ville country, was a caller at this office Friday. Mr. Leveck is one of the largest breeders of Lincoln sheep in this part of the state and is meeting with splendid success. Our climate is unsur passed for the long wooled va rieties of sheep. Hon. C. L. Hawley has been appointed a member of the Board of Regents of the Oregon Agri cultural College. This is a well merited honor and no mistake was made in appointing Mr. Hawley for he is a progressive farmer as well as being a staunch friend of higher education for the masses. . Card of Thanks.
