GROOMING THE HAIR. 8om Useful Hints For Keeping It Naat and Attractive. The care of the hair Is an Important matter. Well groomed hnlr Is neces sary If a woman would appear neat and well dressed. If you have difficulty In keeping your hair in curl try this: Get some carbonate of potassium and a pint of warm water made soapy. Stir up Into a troth, then damp the hair brush with the wash. Brush the hair thoroughly at bed time with tbe wet brush and curl the hair as usual. Hair thus treated will keep in curl all weathers. Also before plaiting the hair you can wet it with a weak solution of isin glass and water. Tbls keeps the "wave" in all day, even in wet weath er, which Is generally fatal to good ap pearance with straight hair. A fine tonic for tbe balr is olive oil and eau de coiogne mixed together in equal parts. This is what is used by Spanish women, and nowhere is seep such lovely, glossy and thick hair even in old women as in Spain. When away from home women often find It difficult to wash their hair. When this is so try tbe following plan: Take a piece of lemon and rub well Into tbe scalp. Afterward brush tbe hi:lr with a clean but not too hard brush. This makes tbe hair fresh and glossy and easy to curl. A good and reliable shampoo for the hair is green soft soap, obtainable at any chemist's. This soap is absolute ly pure and contains no soda. It makes the hair soft and glossy, and for a dime one can buy enough for many shampoos, as only a little is required dissolved In about half a pint of hot water for one shampoo. ABOUT THE HOUSE. To remove dust from the ridges In door panels use a soft, dry nailbrush. Keep one specially for this purpose. If your kitchen table is not a good onlnr ritn half a lemon In dry whltinK and rub tbe table with tbls tbe way of tbe grain. Leave for about Ave minutes, then scrub and rinse well. It is not generally known that wring ing out a cloth in hot water and wip ing the furniture before applying the finmitiira rroam will result In a very high polish that will not "finger mark." If a calendar is too pretty to destroy, nssto a niece of sandpaper over the date pad and use as a match lighter. Before using new tins All them with hniilnir water and leave on tbe back of tbe kitchen range for a time. Scour ing them too often with whiting or ashes wears them out quickly. If washed In soapsuds and thoroughly dried they will not need scouring. Thm Knot WAV to remon iron mold Is tn mh aroll with lemon snd salt, fold up lightly and leave for a few hours. Then wssb tbe article in the usual way and all signs of Iron mold will Very True. Do not talk about yourself in com pany. It can be done so much more satisfactorily after you have left Upplncott's.
