Davis celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary on September 16, surrounded by all their ; children, a number of grandchildren and Eastern relatives numbering IS in all. I The day was spent in a happy man ner by all, the feature being a boun- tiful old fashioned dinner. A young pig was roasted whole by Mr. Davis, after the fashiion of his boyhood days in the South, chickens and other good things too unmerous to mention camel In for their share. ; The commodius farm home was; beautifully decorated by Miss Eliza- j beth Davis, of Los Angeles, a grand daughter. The ferns, flowers and j greenery were all home products; the parlors were in yellow and Iavenner, : the dining room in white and pink. , In the evening a number of j friends and neighbors called to con- j gratulate the aged couple and were j served dainty refreshments. j Mr. Davis, though 82 years of age, j Is hale and hearty as well as is his wife and bid fair to enjoy many more years of happy life. They have spent their entire life In the country, where '. he has followed diversified farming; among the chief products of the farm j is the hops. Mrs. Davis is fond of flowers and plants and spends much time among them. . j Mr. Davis is one of the very few i pioneers lift that emigrated from the Atlantic to the Pacille by team, lie was born in Maryland, came with his parents to Ohio, then to Indiana, where he was married, then to Iowa, and in 1864 by ox team to Oregon, being five months on the road and landing In the Willamettte valley in the fall of 1864, and two years later settled on the farm in Polk county where they have lived continuously i ever since. The relatives present were their five children, Frank Davis, who journeyed from Ohio to be present; j Ms. J. J. Conner, Sun Jose, Col. ; j Mrs. E. Porter, lioseburg, Ore.; Mis.; O. A.
