off quietly Monday with but small
attendance, and the out-going trustee,
O. A. Wolverton, and A. J. Haley, as
clerk, were re-elected without oppo
sition, a sign that the voters of the
district are satisfied with their work.
The Normal exercises passed oil
very creditably, not only to the stu
dents, but showed that the manage
ment, under President Ackerman, is a
credit to the school. Long live the
Normal and its president.
Mrs. C. Copeland, of Newport, is in
town, to be with her daughter, one
of the graduates.
Hon. Fred Chambers, of Toledo,
Lincoln county, was in town this
week to see his sister graduate. Mr.
Chambers was elected to the legisla
ture two years ago. ,

The thunder storm Friday fore
noon struck and destroyed four tele
phone poles on the Farmer's line,
between T. W. Brunk's and Crom
ley's places and burned out the tele
phone batteries In Mr. Cromley's
house.
