The debating teams of the Falls
City High school will compete with
teams from Lebanon and Corvallis
' January 12, on the text book ques
tion. This is the same question that
was debated in the county league
last vear. Falls City defeated Cor-
inter-district debate by Lebanon.
What is said to have been the best
play ever presented in this city was
Hie 'hiima "Borderland" given by
ih-j "Ell Dee" society of the public
school last Friday evening. Th? :in
precedented success was greatly due
to the natural adaptability of the
players to their respected roles. It
s the intention of the society to
present a number of plays this sea
son.

A large crowd attended the Christ
mas tree and program at the church
Saturday evening and enjoyed the
program and tree very much.
Miss Helen Coffey spent her Christ

Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Fletcher have
started for Pennsylvania where they
expect to visit for a few months.
Mrs. D, C. Walker fell and hurt
herself quite badly a few clays ago.

A few of the Salt Creek talented
singers rendered their famous
"Johnny Smoker" song at the
Christmas entertainment and it was
highly appreciated by all.
Carl Harold, of Salem, is. visiting
friends here for a few weeks.

school children a nice Christmas
present which they appreciated very
much.
