    Farmers Buy Fine Stallion.
Through the efforts of William
Lansfleld, of Amity, Hod. C. L. Haw
ley, I. J. White and G. E. McOrow, of
McCoy, another floe breeding stallion
has been purchased aod brought into
the Willamette Valley. They have
organized the McCoy German Coach
Association and purchased from A. C.
Ruby, the great horse Importer, a
splendid German coach stallion,
Brasig, valued at $3000. He is a fine
black 1-year-old, 17 hands high,
weighs 1400 pounds, and is in every
respect an almost perfect horse. The
introduction of such animals into
Folk County is doing much to bring
up the standard of horseflesh in this
section.
School Laws Will Soon Be Ready.
From present indications it is prob
able that the new and revised edition
of the school laws of the state will be
ready by May 15th. The school laws
will be arranged in better shape than
ever before. Each chapter will have
a heading and the book will contain
all the supreme court decisions to date
as well as many of the important
opinions of the attorney general.
Four copies of these laws will be sent
to every school district in the state
and one copy has been provided for
each member of the legislature. The
revised edition will also contain a
summary of each new law which was
made by the last legislature.
A Historical Newspaper.

a report of the retirement of General
Winifleld Scott and an announcemeu
that Secretary of State Seward had
predicted that the war would not last

At the Star Theater.
"In the Days of Witchcraft" at the
Star Theater tonight. A story of that
period in history when all unusual
things were explained as witchcraft
and innocent persons charged with
the practice of the black art were
subjected to terrible tortures and some
times death by the misguided efforts
of the authorities to overthrow the
supposed practice. Other interesting
scenes will be shown and illustrated
songs will be given. Excellent music
by the orchestra.

Grading the Flock.
The grading of the flock Is even more
necessary in winter In northern areas
than In those farther south. By crad
Ing Is meant separating the shearlings
from the ewes thnt are older and also
separating any ewes from the others
that require special care. This is nee
essary because of the different kinds
of food that are best suited to the
needs of each class of sheep. After the
ewes have produced lambs they, of
course, call for a different kind of
food from that given to the other di
visions of the flock. Professor Thomas
