Frank Kerslake gave a moving picture show at the Colosseum skating rink last night solely for the benefit of the pupils of the public school who were given free admission. It is reported that Edward Gerlinger has sold his interest in the Pacific Coast Handle & Manufacturing Com pany to W. D. Myers, president of the company. Mr. Myers will devote his time to the sales office in Portland. while Mornay Athey will remain in Dallas as superintendent of the factory. Johnson Brothers have just received and are installing some fine new plate glass show cases in their con fectionery store. A portion of the furniture in their store will be moved to the building now occupied by the Paoifio Telephone, where they will conduct a branch establishment In their confectionery business. Fruit growers in the vicinity of Dallas are taking advantage of the present fine weather and are planting several thousands of - fruit trees. About 10,000 apple and prune tress were received in Dallas yesterday and they are being hauled away today by their several purchasers. The total number of trees purchased and set out in this locality this Fall will probably range between 20,000 and 30,000. It is reported that "The Oregons," the local championship basketball team, will travel under the auspices of the LaCreole Club on their tour of the eastern states. This, however, will be in the nature of using the club name for a reference more than requir ing financial backing from the organization. This step was sug gested to the team manager by the fact that many of the eastern mana gers answering his letters, desired to know what organization was backing his aggregation and whether it repre sented a social club, a Y. Are you him? $3.00 OREGON LEAGUE MEETS Schedule of Basketball Games Arranged For Coming Season. Is Frank Kersey, president of the Ore gon Basketball League, and Robert anOrsdel, the representative from Dallas College, attended the second meeting of the League held In Salem, Thursday. At this meeting prepara tions for the coming season were com pleted and a full schedule of games drawn up. Other league men who present were McCord, of M. A. A. C, Portland; GuIIey, of Portland Y. M. C. A. ; Larsnell, of McMinnville, and Wright, of Newberg. Willamette University was not represented, but was Included in the schedule. In regard to the obligations of the League teams during the season, it was decided that each team should pay Its own traveling expenses and should retain the receipts on its home floor. The team playing will be obliged each to pay one half of the traveling and hotel expenses of the referee. According to the regular custom, each team will deposit a guar antee fund of $10, which will be refunded at the close of the season if the team faithfully plays Its schedule. If not, the guarantee will be paid to the teams whose dates have been cut It was also decided that each team should deposit a fee of $2 for expense money of the league officers and the secretary, Wright, of Paciflo Coll?ge, was given additional power to act as treasurer. The referees for the coming season will be chosen from the following list of prominent basketball men of the state: C. S. Mackie, J. D. Mackie, Livingston, Kersey, Mahone, Thorpe, Carter, Oranis, Ford, Freeman. Camp, McCord and Harmon. In case of a tie for first place, two games will be played, one on each floor, and If the contest is still undecided, a final game will be played on a neutral floor. Ralph Butler received a severe cut on his right band In a friendly scuffle yesterday, which will disable bis band for some time. The city is preparing to discontinue work at the city rock quarry and bring a portion of the equipments into Dallas for storage. William Rasmus, of Portland, busi ness manager of the Alcazar Stock Company, was In Dallas yesterday on a business visit.
