Sudden changes of weather are es pecially trying, and probably to none more so than to the scrofulous and consumptive. Tbe progress of scrof ula during a normal October is com monly great We neverthink of scrof ulaits bunches, cutaneous eruptions and wasting of the bodily substance without thinking of tbe great good many sufferers from it have derived from Hood's Sarsaparilla, whose rad ical and permanent cures of this one disease are enough to make it the most famous medicine in the world. There is probably not a city or town where Hood's Sarsaparilla has not proved Its merit in more homes than one, in arresting and completely eradicating scrofula, which Is almost as serious and as much to be feared as its near relative consumption. N. BROWN, Prop. Hams and Bacon WISE TALKS BY U. S. LOUGHARYS' OFFICE BOY A fellow up In Chicago who admits to the name of J. Ham Lewis, recently came out and said that n woman doesn't know tbe value of an oath. Now I see that he denies having alluded to woman in the general sense ; he says he meant some women, but not all women. That was a very wise hedge on Mr. J. Ham's part, because had he made his remark so sweeping as he was first reported he might have had more direct evidence to the con trary than he could ute in his busi ness. I understand that Mr. J. Ham is a lawyer and that be is not con nected with tbe stock-yards in any way. Well, whatever his calling, he can go out and lay bets on one thing ; viz, that a woman knows tbe value of good ham and bacon aod she can teli the other kind. Oregon hams are sold in tbe East and Eastern hams are sold in the West but there's more smoked meat comes out of Armour dale, Kansas, than all of Oregon and to give those fellows their due they know how to raise corn, fatten hogs and smoke bams. And we know how to boil them and put tbe wafer edge on your ham or bacon, so never mind where it's raised so long as It's right. Hams are lower. WILLIE TEA Why isn't everything: money back?
