Portland last Friday and Saturday,
when more than one hundred pub
lishers representing as many news
papers of the state met and discussed
subjects of interest and importance to
the profecsion. Many counties of Ore
gon, Folk among the number, were
represented by every publisher In the
county, and there were only two or
three small counties not represented.
The business sessions were held In
the Woodman Hall at 11th and Wash
ington streets, where every care had
been taken to provide for the comfort
of the visitors. President Woodward,
of tho Newberg Graphic, proved an
Ideal presiding officer, being fair In
his rulings and demonstrating bis
ability to expedite business. The
success pf the meeting was also pro
moted by the good work of Dr.
Henry W. Coe, corresponding secre
tary ; D. W, Bath, recording secretary,
and Miss Frances Gottschall, treas
urer. The principal business of the session
was the effecting of a complete reor
ganization of tho Association. The
old constitution was abolished in Its
entirety, and a new one adopted in its
stead. Under the new system, the stat
