Since atlonal tanis of thia class are required to carry as a reserve only 15 per cent of their depos its, it is seen that they are carrying three times the reserve required 6y law. All of these banks will be ready to resume business as usual next Mon day. In fact since tte holidays were first proclaimed six weeks ago, nearly all of them have continued to transact their regular business. The report of the Dallas National Bank is highly creditable to those hav ing charge of its management and to the customers who have stood by it bo loyally through the unexpected financial flurry. Although established less than three years ago, this bank Is able to make a showing that corn- tares favorably with the reports of many of the oldest and most conserv atively managed institutions of like character in the state. The publication by the Oregonian of the condition of the Oregon banks ' Is of great value at this time. The figures show that the banks, with scarcely an exception, have increased rather than decreased their deposits and their ca-h tn hand since the be ginning of the holidays. Whether or cot this sounds fine In theory It will prove itself true from practical experience. President Mulkey Resigns. Hon. B, F. Mulkey has resigned his position as President of the Ashland Normal School. A report that he had resigned was in circulation several weeks ago, but was denied by Presi dent Mulkey at that time. He has not announced his plans for the future. Cass Riggs was up from Crowley on a business visit, Saturday. County Commissioners' Court will be convened next Wednesday.
