Senator Bourne has "made good" in his efforts to secure Government aid for the Ore gon banks. As a result of repeated conferences with the President and Treasurer Cortelyou, the Treasury has authorized Increase of Federal deposits with the First National Bank of Port land to the extent of tl75.0OO. The Commercial National Bank of Pendle ton and the first National Bank of Ash land have been made Government de positorien and each given 150,000 of Government deposits. An additional 150,000 will be deposited in the First National Bank of Baker City, and Pen dleton is promised 1120,000 more as soon as sufficient cash is received from the bond sales. Senator Bourne has hopesof securing still further deposit for other Orecron banks as quickly as the Treasury Department has cash to distribute. Much to the dismay of a number of democratic editors of the "new school" who were loading their guns to the muzzle with the kept-over free silver wads, Billy Bryan is quoted as saying that the "free and unlimited-' would not have prevented the present finan cial depression. The point of the knife penetrated his right side and striking a rib. gilded along the bone, inflicting a deep and painful gash. The Injury is not extremely dangerous, however, and Mr. Richmond will not bo long dis abled by It. Don C. Allan! and family spent Thanksgiving In Portland. Charles Bllyeu went to Albany, Wednesday to attend the funeral of his father, William Hilyeu. who died Tuesday night at the home of his daughter. Mrs. Fred Hocbspeier. Mr. Bllyeu was born in Missouri In 1S33 and came to Oregon In 1W2, settling Bear Mo, where he leslded until 190-2, when he moved to Albany. Ills wife died four years ago. He is survived by seven children and two brothers. The body was taken to Solo for burial.
