The borax simply kills the bacteria which kick up the stink. On the basis of estimates which have been made every person in the United States should plant a tree apiece every year to keep the lumber reserves of the country from becoming exhausted. The cotton crop of the country for the past year, whose value Is placed second In the list and next to that of corn, Is estimated at $040,000,000. This Includes the value of fiber and seed combined. A strong tincture of lemon Juice placed in drinking water is said to be a reasonably sure cure for typhoid fever. The remedy is one that, to say the least, Is harmless and at the same time inexpensive. CURE YOUR KIDNEYS. Do Not Endanger Life When a ferer Shows You the Cure. bui lt usually takes four horses to pull out of a mud hole a load which two can mire with ease and dispatch. The same truth is applicable with even greater force to the management of r. farm or other business enterprise. It may be evidence of a plebeian ap petite, but we are of the opinion that it is pretty hard to beat a hot, mealy baked potato, dressed with a liberal supply of Jersey cream. It knocks ice cream and angels' food all hollow. Concentration of one's effort along a single line will tend to insure a meas ure of satisfaction and financial sue cess that cannot possibly be obtain ed If one spreads himself out in an at temnt to follow, half a dozen lines. In many fields concentration Is Just a synonym of success. The wrapping of a dry towel about a coffeepot or other receptacle whose contents It Is desired to keep warm will aid materially In the attainment Of that result, the condition noted being due to a simple principle of the con servation of heat, the loose dry cloth preventing rapid radiation. Where the chief purpose of the wood lot Is the production of the best qual ity of firewood In the shortest possible time the soft maple excels any other variety. The seeds should be planted In June as soon as they ripen In rows and the following spring transplanted to the plot where It Is Intended they should grow. As a result of the rapid decrease In the lumber Imports from the United States, a new Interest Is being felt in England in the forestry question which Is likely to result In practical measures looking to a production of a portion of the lumber supplies which she annually consumes and which are shipped in from foreign countries. Why will people continue to suffer the agonies of kidney complaint, backache, urinary disorders, lameness, headaches, languor, why allow themselves to be come chronic invalid, when a certain cure is offered them? Doan'a Kidney Pills is the remedy to use, because it gives to the kidneys the help they need to perform their work. If yon have any, even one, of the symptoms of kidney diseases, core your self now, before diabetes, dropsy or Cright'a disease sets in. Mrs. L. Hodson, of 717 Aura St., Pendleton, Ore., says: "I just as en thusiastically endorse Doan's Kidney Pills today as I did nearly three years ago. They relieved me of kidney trouble which had bothered me for a consider able time. There was aehing pains across the small of my back and down through my kidneys, which were aggra vated by colds which settled in the back and loin 8 and caused an awful lameness This was uiy nondition when I began taking Doan's Kidney Pills. This rem edy banished the backache and pains through the loins, regulated the kidney secretions and removed every symptom of the trouble. From that day to this there has been no recurrence, and I give Doan's Kidney Pills all the credit. I consider them to be the best kidney remedy procurable and recommend them whenever the occasion arises." For sale by all dealers. Price 50 cents Foster-Miiburn Co., Buffalo, N. Oklahoma, not many years ago wont to be considered the home of prairie dogs, worthless Indians and blistering southwest winds, has of late come to the front in an agricultural way that is opening people's eyes. During the year Just passed the state produced, accord ing to careful estimates, 125,000.000 bushels of corn, not to mention cotton, wheat and other, staples, the value of the first mentioned cereal being In the neighborhood of $37,600,000. More people suffer from a lack of fresh air and sunshine than from a lack of proper food and nutrition. It Is more likely to be the person who Is afraid of a breath of fresh air who contracts a cold easily or goes into consumption. Nature has a very busi nesslike way of punishing offenders against her laws of health, and she seems to take particular delight in visiting be penalties upon those who scorn her sunshine and fresh air. As a general rule, the size and the excellence of the blossoms which a plant will bear are In an Inverse ra tio to the number that are allowed to grow to maturity. This fact was brought home to us forcibly the other day by noting a chrysanthemum which had thirty-five or forty blossoms, none of which was larger than good sized pants buttons. If the blossoms had 'been limited to two or three, they might have been very creditable specimens. At the late meeting of the National League of Commission Merchants the third Tuesday in October was selected as national apple day. The aim Is to have every man, woman and child In the country eat an apple on that day. While the day was not generally ob served last year, apples were distribut ed free to a number of school children la several cities with a view to inau gurating the scheme. If generally adopted It would mean a material In crease of business for the apple grow ers of the country. The problem of the abandoned New England farms, various attempts at solving which have been made. Includ ing settlement by Immigrants from northern Europe, used for summer re sorts and as grazing lands In the rais ing of sheep and goats all of which methods have been followed with more or less success bids fair to be more adequately bandied by turning such unoccupied farms into forest reserves. In which capacity It Is believed they will fetch the largest returns. It has been estimated by students of the sit uation that these lands could be stock ed with suitable varieties of forest trees at $12 per acre and that they could be made to net $100 per acre at the end of forty years. Grants Pass will have a cannery and it will be in readiness to handle the fruit and berry crop for this season. The Magic No. 3. Number three is a wonderful mascot for Geo. H.
