DALLAS UETS CREAMERY. On Saturday, according to appoint ment, the creamery people of Dallas and vicinity met at Brown's hall to hear Mr. T. S. Townsend's proposition to operate a creamery in Dallas. The meeting was attended by a large number or the most intelligent farmers and enthusiasm for a cream ery was decided. Mr. Townsend came on the 11 o'clock train from Portland and went imme diately before the meeting and com menced his talk, presenting his propo sition in a fair and candid way that took with the meeting. Although Mr. Townsend did not mix oil or soap his candor won the farmers and the proposition to establish a co-operative creamery was abandoned without further discussion, and on vote the Townsend proposition was unani mously accepted. The committee to visit the farmers and solicit patronage are J. G. Brown, J. A. Coovert, George Myer and Cephas Nelson. The machinery will be ordered at once and the creamery will be in operation inside of the next 60 days. Mr. Townsend is anxious to get the creamery started and will lose no time in ordering the necessary plant. This meeting was beyond doubt one of the most successful ever held in Dallas and the end acoomplished means much to the town and farmers of the surrounding country, and every farmer and business man ohnnlH assist in the work of securing patrons by speaking a good wora ior the enterprise. There is one thing more to make the people of thi3 vicinity happy and prosperous, and that is a cannery. We hope very soon to hear of this enterprise beiDg taken in hand by the farmers and business people of Dallas. A cannery would give employment to a greater number of laborers than a creamery, and in connection with the industries and manufacturies already established, would prove of great honfiflt. in further advancing the busi ness interests of our rapidly growing city. Electricity for Lighting Is only expensive to people who are wasteful and careless. To you, who are naturally careful, it does not come high. It is economical because it can be quickly turned off wnen not needed. With gus or kerosene there is the temptation to let light burn when not needed to save bother of lighting and adjusting. In some homes the electric light bills amount to only one or two dollars per month. You can probably get some kind of artificial light for less money than electric light, but does it save you anything when it limits op portunities for work and recreation ruins your eyesight smokes your walls mars decorations and increases household work. You could probably save a dollar tomorrow by going without your meals but it wouldn't be economy. . It is not so much what you save, but how you save that couDts. WILLAMETTE VALLEY CO.
