The young people found a hearty wel come awaiting them, and music and games made the hours pass quickly. One of the most interesting features of the eveniug was a basketball game played by throwing for goals in a miniature basket Walter Ballau tyne, for throwing the greatest num ber of goals, was allowed to carry home the basket and ball as a trophy of bis skill. At 10 o'clock the guests gathered in the dining room for a game with the refreshments, in which the score was wholly in favor of the guests. The crowning feature of the feast was a retired basketball cover, which occu pied the center of the table, filled to overflowing with nuts. After the first course had been removed, the old ball was tossed about the table and a merry time was spent in cracking nuts and jokes. The evening closed with college songs and the guests de parted happily, followed by the good wishes of their entertainers. Those present were Judge and Mrs. J. L. To you, who are naturally careful, it does not come high. It is economical because it can be quickly turned off wnen not needed. With gas or kerosene there is the temptation to let light burn when not needed to save bother of lighting and adjusting. Id some homes the electric light bills amount to only one or two dollars jer month. You can probably get some kind of artificial light for less money than electric light, but does it save you anything when it limits op portunities for work and recreation ruins your eyesight smokes your walls mars decorations and increases household work. You could probably save a dollar tomorrow by going without your meals but it wouldn t be economy. It is not so much what you save, but how you save that counts. WILLAMETTE VALLEY CO.
