Inspected Dallas Dryers.
R. O. Jones and Wood Bros., of the
new fruit dryer, made a trip to Dallas,
Wednesday, to inspect the fruit dryers
in that town. Some extensive im
provements are likely to be made in
the Amity dryer, which is now is
course of construction. Amity Enterprise.'
A piece or a Corvallis plum tree
limb four feet long contained 150 well
developed peach plums.
Junction City will have a $3,000 ice
plant, that will supply home con
sumption and some outside points.
A walnut farm of 40 acres near
Dayton promises to be a paying in
vestment The trees are set 40 feat
apart, with berries betwoon.

The County Court of Polk County,
Oregon, asks for bids to be opened at
10 o'clock a. tn on Saturday, August
18, 190G, for the construction of two 60
foot span bridges; one known as the
Molson bridge, and one over the
slough north of Ballston. Bidders re
quired to deposit certified check for 5
per cent of bid. Plans and specifica
tions to be found at the office of the
County Clerk. The right is reserved
to reject any or all bids.

hay on the farm of R. A. Campbell
near Ballston last Wednesday. A
spark from the engine used to ruu the
baler set fire to the hay, and a strong
