Editor.) This is what we saw an
eight-year-old girl do in live minutes:
The thermometer lingered around the

she leaped a 5-foot sidewalk ; fell down
in six inches of dust; got up; dusted
her white dress; dropped on her knee
and laced her shoe; lied to the ice
house and bought her ice; asked a
hundred questions ; dashed out ; slum
mi rig the screen door as she ran
entered a cheese factory ; asked fifty
more pertinent questions about the
business; fled around the corner to
the engine room of the ice works ; took
in the situation ; siezed her ice and re
turned on time, remurking "There's
lots of things over there." The writer
will wager money or marbles that
Dallas can't produce a boy that can
cover the same ground in double the
time and give as lucid an account of
what he saw.
UNCLE BILL.
Sam Thurston, who has been in
Arizona forthe winter, passed through
Albany a few days ago on his way to
Portland, to enter a sanitorium for
treatment for tuberculosis. Sam has
been a sufferer from this trouble for
quite awhile and is scarcely able to be

brother, Gyp, who assisted him in the
